Documentary filmmaking at Jin-Do (Island), South Korea

Professor Yoo is creating a documentary film in collaboration with a South Korean independent film director, Daehyun Kim. This film will highlight the intimate connections that people have with soils. Where living things - including humans - stop being alive start the biogeochemical cycles of soils. Where the biogeochemical cycles of soils end, living things - including us - start being alive. The filmmaking is taking place at Jin-Do(Island), South Korea, where the cycle of death and birth has long been richly embraced into the people’s everyday culture including their unique rituals, music, and dances.
